IFA EPISTLE GALVANIZES THE SOCIETY
The Olu Isese/Araba Of Ota Awori Kingdom, His Eminence Oluwo (Dr) Fasola Faniyi Babatunde has said it is imperatives to always share the beauty, power and traditions of Sacred Yoruba Spiritual Science and Culture, through greater understanding of healing and balance in life.
Araba of Ota, Dr. Fasola Faniyi made this declaration at the Chieftaincy Installation of Joint Association Of Babalawo Onifa Ota, Awori Kingdom in conjunction with Indigenous Association Of Ifa Cultural Practice at Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Hall, Ota, Ogun State.
He said the traditional way of life should not be forgotten in a rush as this is the foundation to the upliftment of any society adding that understanding the society and moderating all activities in the society for peaceful co-existence is best achieved with tradition.
Fasola stated that the Indigenous Association Of Ifa is to ensure easy identification of members and to form a chorus of decorum through strict adherence to code of conducts as well fostering development.
"Arugba Ifa was a woman then from Ota that carried calabash to Oyo to marry Alaafin OluAso, the chieftaincy has its concomitant responsibilities to the society, tradition brings about socio-economic development, the confirment of chieftaincy titles include: Adeniran Fashola as Ojubona Onifa, Afuwape Ifatunju as Akoda Onifa, Sunday Awokindajorin as Agbongbo Onifa, Anipupo Ifatunmise as Erinmi Onifa, Ifakolade Adara as Apesin Onifa, Dr. Ifatunde Arofami Oyegbade as Ewi Onifa, Mogaji Olaogun as Agiri Onifa, Fagbemi Olalekan as Oba Edu Onifa among others. The total of chieftaincy is twenty-two", Fasola said.
The Odota of Ota, Hon. Oladele Adeniji further expantiates that no society can progress in an absence of Ifa since the spirit of finding out about concrete issues is embedded in Ifa saying 'Arugba' was a woman from Ota who moved to marry Alaafin Olu Aso.
He said anyone who is not a member of Onifa is not qualified as 'Babalawo' advising people to embrace and learn more about Ifa since it is the easiest means of proferring solutions to societal issues.
Olota of Ota, HRM. Oba (Professor) AbdulKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege ably represented by Oluwo of Ota, High Chief Deinde said the chieftaincy is in line with the norms and customs of the society adding that all Awori lands would continue to do the needful for the sustainability of Ifa for the amelioration.
Olota added that people should have proper understanding that as we have Christian, Muslim as religion likewise Ifa is the first religion which Western Education should not swipe from us.
