OGUN WORKERS CHARGED ON HEALTHY LIVING

Workers in the Ogun State Civil Service have been charged to reflect on their health and take necessary precautions, to enable them contribute meaningfully to the development of the Public Service and the State in general.

The Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro who stated this during the flag-off of the year 2022 Public Service Day celebration, which started with "Know Your Health Status" called on everyone to do a regular check-up and be in good health.

 “Let's take our health into our hands,  we should not take this yearly event just like that, but it is an opportunity to reflect on how we have been taking care of health in the past years and we need to sensitise ourselves on vaccination and voluntary testing", he said.

Speaking earlier, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker thanked the Governor and the organisers for helping workers to know their health status, which showed a sign of value for government workers in the State, advising civil servants to be conscious of what they consume, as prevention is better than cure.

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, said the programme was specially designed for the celebration of Ogun workers, urging everyone to always go for medical checkup regularly and thanked the State government given the workers the day to check their health.

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Tayo Lawal, said that checking health status was what people pay for outside but the governor approved it to be free, and it would empower and give everyone the information to know what one needs to remain healthy.

Dr. Temitope Yomibo-Sofolahan in her lecture on Non-communicable diseases such as Hypertension and diabetes said it could happen to anybody, which many people have not been aware of.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Mrs. Oluwafemi Itunuoluwa and Mr. Soji Solarin from the Hospital Management Board and Ministry of Information and Strategy respectively, thanked the present administration for the annual programme which would help the workers put in more effort.
