Gunmen invade Soludo’s Isuofia community, kill policeman

Gunmen invade Soludo’s Isuofia community, kill policeman

The Isuofia community, home place of Anambra State governor, Prof Charles Soludo, has been invaded by gunmen, who killed one policeman in the process.

The incident happened at the junction leading to the governor’s house, where security operatives were erecting security post.

Angered by the idea of building security post at the junction, the hoodlums stormed the arena shooting none stop, why residents scampered for safety.

Soludo, The Nation gathered yesterday, traveled abroad to have a little rest, before the gunmen struck Friday morning.

Though, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police command, Ikenga Tochukwu did not pick his call to confirm the incident, a senior Police Officer, who spoke with The Nation in confidence, confirmed it.

The source said only one police man was killed by the gunmen and not three as being speculated.

Meanwhile, Soludo’s plans to end killings in the state may have hit the rocks, as the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, has issued threats messages again.

This time, some members of the pro-Biafra group have warned members of the Peace and Reconciliation Commission, set up by Soludo not to step their foot in the state.

The Chairman of the Committee, which is waiting for its inauguration, is Prof Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist.

Other members of the Committee includes music icon, Onyeka Onwenu and youngest old man and entertainer, Charles Oputa (Charlie Boy), among others

According to the message from IPOB, which was sighted Friday morning by The Nation, the pro-Biafra group said they should not be held responsible if the Committee fail to heed their warning.

The message, “Prof thinks we’re foolish and that’s why he has been saying anything he likes, we are waiting for his team.

“They should go and tell those people he assembled not to come around us or they will have themselves to blame. So, the governor sees us as jokers? We shall see,” it read.

For the past one week now, gunmen had invaded Anambra State, killing a good number of people, especially, security operatives and burning their facilities in different parts of the state.
