Two die in Oshodi cult clash
• Police arrest 31 suspects
Two persons were killed at the weekend in resumed cult clashes at Oshodi in central Lagos.
Armed youths were on rampage since Wednesday night in several streets in the area including Afariogun, Eliasu, Adesoji, Olatunbosun, among others.
It was gathered that the hoodlums moved from one compound to the other robbing people.
Residents ,who took to social media to decry the siege, wondered why the hoodlums were parading the streets with cutlasses and guns unchallenged by security operatives.
The harassment by the cultists also grounded commercial activities in the area as streetgates were closed before 9pm while shop owners locked up for fear of further attack.
The Nation gathered that police reinforcements were deployed in the area on Friday to complement the local division in the area.
Spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said 31 suspects have been arrested.
“Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, immediately deployed police patrol teams to complement existing manpower of the division.
“A total of 31 suspects were arrested. The situation has since been brought under control as normalcy has been restored. Investigation into the incident is ongoing,” said Ajisebutu in a chat.
