  RESIDENTS URGED TO TAKE COVID-19 BOOSTER DOSE

The Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker has urged residents who have taken the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to ensure they get the booster shot after six months, as it is free and available in designated areas in the State.

 Coker stated this during a visit to Ajuwon and Ifesowapo Community in Ifo Local Government Area, to monitor the level of implementation of the Ramp up exercise, saying the vaccination would protect against the deadly virus.

The Health Commissioner said the essence of the exercise was to ensure the State attain herd immunity by ensuring that more residents were vaccinated, noting that embracing the vaccine would also help in the full return of our social lives and economic growth.

She said a similar exercise was ongoing in Tertiary Institutions across the State to ensure youths in classrooms were not left out, appealing to those who were yet to be vaccinated to do so while the exercise lasted.

In his response, Chairman Ajuwon Community, Alhaji Alabi Kolawole appreciated the government for its drive at ensuring the safety of the people, promising that effort would be intensified to mobilise more residents for vaccination.
