  NO TRANSFER INTO FLAGSHIP SCHOOLS IN OGUN- EDUCATION COMMISSIONER

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has said that transfer into its 42-flagship public secondary schools in the State will no longer be encouraged, so as to ensure quality, standard and tackle overcrowding issues.

Prof. Arigbabu disclosed this during a strategic meeting with management of the Ministry, Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs) and Principals of Government Science and Technical Colleges in the State, adding that the transfer process into other schools would now last till Monday, January 31, 2022.

The Commissioner who commended the ZEOs and the Principals for being instrumental to policies of government in the education sector, informing that there would be a monthly undertaking form to be signed by Head of Departments, Headteachers, Principals and ZEOs to properly monitor the newly recruited Ogunteach interns for job efficiency.

"We will not allow usage of our school facilities for ceremonies or religious activities between Monday and Friday, as a way to further fight insecurities in schools and to discourage distractions to teaching and learning", Arigbabu submitted.

He explained that the Education Intervention Fund will soon be launched for the maintenance and provision of new and old facilities in schools across the State, promising that Zonal Education Offices would be equipped with more gadgets that would make them function in line with 21st-century methods.

Earlier in her remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye applauded the ZEOs and heads of Technical Colleges for passionately carrying out their duties despite several challenges, enjoining them to continue the good works and be more effective.

Mrs. Ogunleye charged them to be vigilant and adhere to programmes of the government, in order to continually achieve the set goals of the Education Ministry.

Speaking on behalf of others, the Principal, Government Science and Technical College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta and ZEO, Abeokuta South, Messer Jimoh Taiwo, and Patrick Omotayo respectively, lauded the government for embarking on policies and programmes geared towards improving the standard of education.
