COVID-19: US HEALTH PARTNER COMMENDS OGUN’S MASS VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

The Ogun State Government has been commended for its creative approach in scaling up the ongoing COVID-19 mass vaccination campaign across its 20 Local Government Areas.

This commendation was given in Abeokuta by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), APIN Public Health Initiatives, Dr. Prosper Okonkwo, while presenting some infection control and prevention materials to the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker.

Okonkwo, represented by the Head, Ogun State Office, Pharm. Michael Ohue, said APIN, a leading indigenous Non-Governmental Organisation funded by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), had noticed success recorded with the vaccination campaign against COVID-19, adding that it was an evidence that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government prioritises the health of its residents.

The CEO assured of the organisation continued support to the State government in achieving its set goals in the health sector, urging residents to take advantage of the mass vaccination to get themselves protected against Coronavirus, as the vaccines were safe and available in various health facilities.

"The healthcare workers at the facilities and designated COVID-19 vaccination sites are available and ready to answer any questions or provide you with information that you need", he said.

In her response, Dr. Coker appreciated APIN for its backing, particularly the care for People Living with HIV/AIDS, calling other stakeholders to join hands with the present administration to achieve its various lofty dreams in the health sector.
