People suspected to be Cultists on Sunday morning have invaded a face to face apartment located at Oke-Sokori Area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, killing one and dispossessing neighbours of their mobile phones.
It was gathered that the hoodlums, at about 1:30 AM on Sunday, stormed a house at 4, Tinubu Street, Oke-Sokori, in the heart of Abeokuta, forcing themselves into the face-to-face apartment.
“The gunmen, numbering four, entered all the rooms in the house, dispossessed neighbours of their phones until they finally entered Olayiwola Adebari's room and shot him dead, after which they severed one of his arms.
"I think they are cultists,” a reliable source told our correspondent anonymously.
It was learnt that the assailants cut off the 27-year-old Adebari’s left hand and took it away, an act many described as common among cultists.
Adebari’s murder was reported to the policemen at Ibara Divisional Headquarters, who visited the scene to evacuate the corpse to State Hospital, Ijaye mortuary.
Contacted, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
Oyeyemi revealed that the killers were cultists, adding that the police is on the matter.
“Yes, it was a cult-related issue. We are on it. Investigation has since commenced to fish out the criminals,” Oyeyemi stated.
