IGANMODE DAY, A REMINDER OF AWORI ORIGIN - OLOTA

The annual Iganmode Day celebration has been described as a reminder of Awori origin, an essential component for communal understanding, as well as custom and historic antecedents, love and and unity of Aworiland.

Olota of Ota, Oba (Prof) Adeyemi Obalanlege stated this while during the grand-finale of Iganmode Day held at Ansar-Ur-Deen Secondary School, Ota, where he stated that the annual event has brought about steady progress as well as peace and development of the larger community.

 

Oba Obalanlege added that "Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja" Day, has always been an improvement on the previous ones, saying the theme of this year's event "Culture: A Module For Sustainable Leadership", has helped in the projection of rich cultural values and norms of Ota in particular and Awori in general which has engender massive socio-cultural and sub-ethnic nationality.

 

"Culture is believed to be a distinctive way of life of a group of people in order to promote cultural heritage which in no doubt enhances industry and tourism", Olota said.

He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for fixing Osi-Ikola and Navy-Raypower roads at the inception of his administration, pleading for speedy repair of other deplorable roads in Ota, enjoining residents to always  be of good conduct, loyal, patriotic and supportive to the Government by their taxes.

In his words, Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo, said, the concept  of culture as a module for sustainable leadership remains an effective instrument in building a good governance, based on societal values and norms, saying  Governor Dapo Abiodun is providing all-round qualitative and sustainable leadership from which all residents in Ogun State benefit.

He urged everyone to work assiduously in order to restore the sustainable leadership which he said had eluded our society for a very long and invariably hindered the expected level of development.

The Chairman, Iganmode Cultural Festival 2021 Central Planning Committee, Aare Ayodele Bankole said over decades, the primary mission of the event was to celebrate the cultural and an ancestral hero of Iganmode, an irrepressible Awori warrior, appreciating the State Government  for its support through Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
