The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, has charged members of the Association of Professional Women Engineers, (APWEN), to ensure that engineering is made attractive to women as a career, especially the young ones in the society.

Salako-Oyedele, who gave the charge in her office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta while playing host to the new executives of APWEN, Abeokuta chapter, led by its newly elected Chairman, Engr. Temitayo Adegbuyi, said the Association should find ways to make ladies and women successful in choosing Engineering as a career.

The Deputy Governor noted that involvement of more women in the profession would enhance the practice, adding that more attention should be on capacity building of women Engineers.

"It is quite interesting that we just celebrated the day of the Girl-Child and it is very important that we as professionals, should ensure that we stand as role models for young girls, so that they can look up to us and know that there is a future for them", she said.

She congratulated the newly elected Chairman and other executive members of the chapter, urging them to sustain the legacy of the outgone Chairman, by expanding the scope of APWEN and increasing the number of women in Engineering.

Earlier in her remarks, the new Chairman, Engr. Adegbuyi, appreciated the Deputy Governor for her unflinching support towards the development of the Association, promising that members would improve and not let the profession down.
