IKLG BOSS CHARGES TEACHERS TO BE MORE DEDICATED

IKLG BOSS CHARGES TEACHERS TO BE  MORE DEDICATED

An appeal has gone to primary school teachers in Ikenne Local Government, to be more dedicated and committed on their jobs.

Making this appeal is the Executive Chairman, Ikenne Local Government, Hon. Olusegun OGUNLEYE, in his address at the commissioning/handover of a Block of 3 Classrooms donated by the Olutobi Nathaniel Oduyale Foundation (ONOF), to St. Barnabas Anglican Primary School, Ilisan Remo.

According to the Chairman, the government shall continue to reward excellence among the committed teachers, as he also urged the pupils to concentrate on their studies.

Hon. OGUNLEYE, in a release signed by the council's Director, Information, Education and Sports, Tope OYEKAN, thanked the donor, Olutobi Nathaniel Oduyale Foundation, for its kind gesture, calling on all public-spirited individuals and organisations to continue to support the government, as the government cannot do it alone.

He commended the Governor, Prince Dapo ABIODUN, MFR, for his various people-oriented programmes and projects in the education sector, including the renovation and construction of classrooms; provision of teaching and learning materials; and the ongoing teachers recruitment exercise - OGUN TEACH, among others.

"Our administration shall also complement the state government efforts, towards making teaching and learning stress-free in our primary schools", submitted, the Chairman.

In a short sermon at the event, the Bishop, Remo Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Michael Olusina FAPE, described wisdom as a principal necessity.

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom. When there is sound education, there will be development, and when education is given the priority it deserves, our society will not remain the same", said the Bishop.

He thanked the donor for sustaining the good legacies laid by the founding fathers of the western region.

In his Royal remarks, the Olofin of Ilisan, Oba Michael SONUGA, appreciated and prayed for the donor, for his kind gesture and love towards the community.

He however sought for more similar development in the town.

Contributing, the benefactor and founder, Olutobi Nathaniel Oduyale Foundation, Engr. Olutobi ODUYALE, thanked the Anglican Communion for the sound moral and academic training inculcated in him and several others who passed through the school.

He promised to continue to support his alma mater, where he passed out in 1969.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Headteacher of the School, Mrs. Omotola BALOGUN, described the event as an important milestone in the annals of the school, and a great significance to the development of education in Ilisan.

She appreciated the donor, for deeming it fit to give back to his alma mater, while she called on all old pupils to emulate similar gesture.

The Project was commissioned by the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi ARIGBABU, who also expressed gratitude to the donor for complementing the government efforts in the development of education sector.

He listed some of the intervention of the Prince Dapo ABIODUN's administration in the sector to include declaration of emergency in education, shortly after his inauguration as the Governor; cancellation of all levies in schools; payment of running costs to schools; increase in the feeding allowance for schools with special needs; and the introduction of Optical Mark Recognition in the conduct of examinations.

"These are not limited to the primary and secondary schools alone,  as the tertiary institutions are also captured.

The Prince Dapo ABIODUN-led administration shall continue to give education the priority it deserves", said the Honourable Commissioner.

The event held on Monday, had in attendance, Prince Adeyemi ADEFULU, MFR, Chairman, Governing Council, Tai Solarin College of Education, Omu; Evang.
