PDP knocks Ogun govt over Abiodun, deputy, speaker’s foreign trips

PDP knocks Ogun govt over Abiodun, deputy, speaker’s foreign trips

The Peoples Democratic Party has faulted the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; and his deputy, Noimot  Salako-Oyedele who left  the country same period  without handing over properly.

Abiodun was said to have travelled out of the country shortly after his late father’s burial.

Our correspondent gathered that Abiodun left for the United Kingdom,  where he visited the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju  Bola  Tinubu.

The governor was said to have handed over to the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi,  instead of the deputy governor.

Our correspondent was told that the action angered Salako-Oyedele, who also took a trip to London.

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly,  Olakunle Oluomo, was also said to have  left the state to  attend  a conference in the United States of America.

Reacting to the development, the PDP in the state on Monday condemned the act .

The state Chairman of the party, Sikirulahi Ogundele, who spoke with our correspondent, described it as “the height of insensitivity to governance.”

He said, “Governor travelled out, followed  by his deputy and the speaker; honestly, I am not disappointed since they don’t have a  direction, since they are visionless. A am not disappointed.

“The annual independence day celebration will be coming up on Friday, let them just return to Ogun State and mark that day.”

When contacted for a reaction, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kunle Somorin, referred our correspondent to the Chief of Staff, Shuaib Salis, and the Commissioner for Information, Waheed Odusile .

The duo neither answered the calls put to their lines nor replied to the text messages  sent to their mobile lines as of press time.
