Facts have emerged how a 30-year old man, Gboyega Ogunlola, allegedly drugged a 27-year old married woman, raped and inserted a piece of iron into her private part after stealing her money in the process.

It was reported that the incident happened on 5th September, 2021, at Iworoko area of Ekiti State, where they reside.

The alleged dastardly act was reported to the Police, who trailed the suspect and eventually arrest him.

The woman, in her statement to the Police, narrated that the suspect took her in his car when she was going to Anambra State to check on her children and she slept off in the process.
“I later found myself in Ogunlola’s room, where he raped me and inserted a piece of iron in my private part, which injured and landed me in a hospital” she said.

The woman also alleged that the suspect stole her phone and the sum of N260,000 meant for her children’s school fees and was said to have been traumatized after the act.

The Police, after interrogation, found the suspect culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates Court.
The Police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, stated at the Court the defendant was reasonably suspected to have committed the offences of rape, attempted murder and stealing from the victim, which offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 358, 320 and 390 of Criminal Code, Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
Apata urged the Court to remand the defendant in custody to enable him to forward the duplicate case file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Saka Afunso, who granted the prosecutor’s request, ordered that the defendant should be remanded at a Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti pending availability of legal advice from the DPP.

The case was adjourned till 5th October, 2021, for mention.
